It’s true, coffee can be a miracle. However, there is only so much caffeine can do to cover up poor rest patterns and behavior. I do not and will never campaign for inaction or laziness and when I denounce the “hustle” life. I am not saying that dedication to your work isn’t important to creating something successful. I’m not even saying that there won’t be times that you need to sprint in order to accomplish a goal.
What I am saying is that if you take a moment to think about it, your business is never going to be sustainable if you build a business model that doesn’t allow you to be healthy enough to give a sustainable performance. Even if you do create a successful business by burning yourself out, you won’t be able to operate it once you’ve become a puddle of ashes on the ground (picture the wicked witch of the West vibes). At that point you will have to give it up and transfer ownership or shut it down completely.
It’s my belief that the most important thing to practice in setting your pace of work is self-awareness. While it is important to be persistent, it is also important to listen to your body and mind when it tells you to take a break. Everybody needs rest and recovery time.
