Introducing: MOVE Venture Capital

MOVE Venture Capital is a new pre-seed and seed-stage fund focused on Nebraska and Midwest founders and startups. “Our goal is to have hundreds of founders building here, new investors investing here, and help drive tech creation and jobs which tend to follow as you build new companies. There is a natural fit to promote new tech in general” stated Charlie Cuddy.

Why MOVE?

Founded by Charlie Cuddy, John Grange, and Manny Quevedo, MOVE arose from two common concerns. From the investor perspective, the concern is that they wish for more startups to invest in. From founders, they wish there was more capital. Both of these concerns reveal a gap in the ecosystem.

Charlie stated “Even though Nebraska does well in the seed stage, the 3 year running average is about 28 investments per year, we are missing out on the larger investments. Nebraska has the numbers to support 70-80 seed investments per year, but are currently doing 10.”

MOVE Venture Capital was created for the next generation of founders. Those who have never done this before, young people who want to start their first business, people leaving their jobs to create their own thing, and people who just want to bet on themselves are the types of founders MOVE is looking to help.

“We are open to talking to anyone who’s building something awesome and seeing where it goes” stated Charlie.

Nebraska Startup Academy

Created by the founders of MOVE, but also its own initiative, is the Nebraska Startup Academy. This non-profit aims to pull together the resources that exist in Nebraska already to provide adequate guidance to founders. In-person events such as their VC Office hours and mini-series bring people together, provide resources, and answer questions budding founders have.

Nebraska Startup Academy is not only for MOVE portfolio companies, but for any founder, investor, or community supporter interested in the space.
